Parish Churches gives you direct access to the archive of the Parish Church Photographic Survey — the most comprehensive photographic documentation of rural English parish churches ever undertaken. Search for churches and their contents using over 500 keywords, dates and periods, the names of people commemorated, and the architects and artists responsible for the buildings and their contents.
The app currently provides access to over 51,000 images covering more than 1,000 churches, with material from the full archive of over 500,000 images being added continuously.

The app is free to download from the Google Play Store. Free functionality includes person search (for genealogical use) and mapping. Full functionality — including images and detailed site information — requires a subscription:

Selecting a church
Tap any church marker on the map to display full details: architecture, associated people such as architects, and date ranges for each part of the building.

Searching by type
The Search page lets you filter by county, keyword, and date range simultaneously. Here: churches in Cambridgeshire with bellcotes, built in the 19th century.

Searching by subject
Switch to the Subjects tab to search within church contents. Here: all 12th-century fonts across the archive.

Searching by person
The People Search page finds architects, artists, or those commemorated on monuments. Here: all churches designed or restored by George Edmund Street.
